Last June, Great Christian Academy took the initiative to celebrate the independence of the Philippines despite the raging pandemic. Parents, teachers, and students participated in the event to honor our heroes and the homeland, and GCA honored their participation in return through various online activities.
One of the most exciting activities from the roster that day was the Philippine Independence Day Poster Making Competition with the theme “Kalayaan 2020: Malasakit sa Mamamayan, Tunay na Diwa sa Gitna ng Sakuna”. The competition called for students from GCA to bring the theme and their own interpretation to life using a ¼ illustration board, a mere Mongol pencil, and various coloring materials.
GCA students from different levels showed their wisdom and creativity in the competition, but only three students emerged victorious in the end. After months of careful deliberation, the competition’s judge and our very own school principal, Dr. Edita Baggayan, together with GCA, are pleased to finally announce the winners of the Philippine Independence Day Poster Making Competition held from June 7 to 11, 2020:
1st Place: Raizel Blance
2nd Place: Tiffany Kate Mullasgo
3rd Place: Samuel Gio Payao
The three winners were part of the ten finalists chosen last year. Their independence-day posters met Dr. Baggayan’s expectations in terms of creativity and presentation (40%), originality (30%), and relevance to the theme (30%).
The first and second place winners will receive cash prizes worth 1,000 and 500 pesos, respectively. The third-place winner will received a Certificate of Achievement. All the ten finalists, meanwhile, will received Certificates of Participation.
